STUDIO_Part 3

April 2008

The studio is "nice and clean", not already finished: a lamp, a carpet and a design wall are missing. But...

I bought a 8 GB mp3 player, digitized all my music-cds and listen to music with the wonderful loudspeakers of the companion_5/Bose.
What a sound! Very enjoyable. This system takes a minimum of place. The best solution -in my humble opinion-.

The closet is fulled of transparent bins, and file bins from MUJI (wonderful products), everything has its place.

I like the new design of this room. It was worth it.

STUDIO_Part 2

27.01.2008

I already told you that my studio will get a makeover, see here

During 2007, there were many changes:
- the windows (dating from 1966!) were changed to very good isolated new ones
including outside roller shutters (very good during the sommer or when the sun is low)
- my old but beloved table was changed, I have 2 new desks, their size is so calculated that I can put my machine quilting frame on it
I have the place to have 3 machines on this working space without any trouble!
- two commodes, two little containers with drawers under the 2 desks (twice 75 x 120 cm)
- ceiling lamp with biologic daylight and 2 lamps (I already had them) with ionisator and daylight
- at least a very good Hunter ventilator
- 2
are giving this room a new appearance but on this january I can tell you something:
but ... it is not finished!!!

This room will get new wallpapers in this first trimester 2008, the oak floor (also from 1966) nees a complete renovation/restoration, 2 walls will get gallery trails under the ceiling. Just wonderful to hang some works.
We already have gallery trails in our big korridor, these are marvellous and so practical.
A very huge cabinet has been ordered and will be delivered after the handy works in this room.

In other words: it is not finished, but ... a lot of changes happened during 2007 and 2008 will see the end of these!
Yes, I will tell you!

With Gaby we took a flight from Hamburg to Munich to take a one-day class from Laura Kemshall at the Gallery QUILT & TEXTILKUNST in Munich/Germany. I got off at 4 am! The day was exhausting but so interesting!
The class itself was awesome, it was very exciting to see Laura´s works and samples, and so much fun to experiment with new ideas. I wished i was not so tired to learn much more than I did!
We also had a lot of chance: many works of Marianne Fruehauf were still on the walls of the Gallery, it was at the very end of Marianne´s exhibition, I saw many pieces from this talented artist.

My 2 works (Escargots and Colimaçons) were both accepted from the Pfaff Art Embroidery Contest. I travelled to London to see them hanging during the Knitting and Stitching Show (Alexandra Palace/London).
I had the big chance to meet personnaly not only Mme Jacqueline Govin (Curator of the Exhibition and President of the Jury) but also Susanne Gregg who won the Excellence Award Prize for her work "Fibre Glass : The Laboratory".
I enjoyed so much the time I had with those two great ladies.

My mind is full of impressions, ideas, thoughts that I got during those 2 days at the Alexandra Palace. I was very impressed from the Show and from the possibility to the direct contact to well-known Artists, like Ruth Isset who gave me so much creative information.
I was moved to tears to see the works from Valerie Campbell-Harding who died so suddendly on the 5th october 2006. It is something so incredible to stand in front of her beautiful works and to "recognize" them from her books.
There are so much positive to say about this show: wonderful place, wonderful organisation, wonderful exhibits and shopping possibilities.

Of course, I tried to get the Hogwart express at the King´s Cross Station ... but I am really only a muggle. The foot steps on the floor show you clearly that someone successed she or he  could get through the wall!

21.09.2007

Aicha (The Beautiful) a british shorthair in blue came to us on this day. She is really a beautiful little cat lady, who can purrs like an adult (well only her first 10 days, then she "forgot" how to do this!). She is very cute and loves to be pet. On her first 2 days she was terrified but she is very relaxed yest (january 08) and has a very close friendship with another of our cats.

In September 2007 there will be 20 complete years that i am living in Germany! Last year on the 28.06 I endly decided to apply for the German nationality, and wanted to keep my birth nationality: French.
Almost a year later I became German too on this 2nd of July 07.
After the ceremony we were sitting with friends and I was admiring the ATCs i received on this special occasion.

PALAISEAU
France

31.03.2007

I had to travel to France because of family purposes, but i could not resist to see the exhibit in Palaiseau (2007). My friend Régine Dupont took this nice picture of me.
It was a great, great day, one of those unforgettable ones, i also had the big chance to see Dijanne Cevall for a few minutes.

STUDIO

My studio is getting a makeover all over this year 2007, i´ll put you some pictures from time to time!

2006

Sometimes you will find my "studio" in a very seldom condition: cleaned up!!!
It is mostly the other way!
Fortunately i am never alone in this creative chaos, heu, corner, our youngest cat -Pixie- loves to be by me. She wants to be petted exactly when i am trying to guide a fabric through the machine, ah! what a help! I am not able to sew any straight seam anymore.

CATS

23.02.2007

My husband and I are very sorry to announce Minette (the dark cat in the middle) death on this very early morning of the 23rd. February 2007, she was expected to become 10 at the end of April 2007.
She suffered over 2 weeks of a very bad heart condition - HCM (please google for more information, or here). Her death was very unexpected, she was always healthy until her 1st attack and suffered so much during 2 weeks although the veterinarian did her very best.
We are extremly sad and will miss her very much.

Three female cats are sharing our life, all three are british shortair pure breed but in different colors. They all have their very special own personality.

SUMMERS

Summers 2006, 2007

During the summer i just love to swim laps outside under any kind of weather, rainy, cold or sunny.
The day the picture was taken we were only 2 persons in this beautiful new open-air (and heated water) pool of my town: my husband and I.
